Bailey, the mama in these photos, was such a meaningful part of my teenage years. Between the ages of 13 and 16, you probably didn’t see me without her and Christina. When I look back on that season of my life, I truly consider it some of my golden years. I didn’t have a big sister, but in Bailey, I found a person who filled that role in so many ways. She coached my JV cheerleading team my freshman year, took me to my first concert (a very memorable Luke Bryan Farm Tour experience), and taught me how to cook some of my favorite meals: tilapia, zucchini and onions, and mac and cheese will forever remind me of those days.
Life has a way of creating seasons. Friendships shift, schedules get busier, and sometimes distance naturally happens. But distance does not erase the impact someone has had on your life. And I know without a doubt that Bailey is someone I could count on, no matter how much time passes.
One of the sweetest blessings has been getting to watch her step into motherhood. The last time I photographed the Lewis family, Bailey was expecting her oldest. Now, she and Lane have three incredible kiddos who are energetic, funny, determined, strong-willed, and such a reflection of the love and guidance they have poured into them. Watching them as parents is truly something special.
For this session, we spent a quiet morning on their family farm, arriving shortly after sunrise when everything felt slow, peaceful, and full of possibility. Their property was the perfect backdrop for their family; a place where their children could run, explore, and simply be themselves. There was laughter in the pasture, little feet running through the grass, and the sweetest moments of connection tucked into the in-between. And of course, we found cattails that add beautiful movement and a whimsical touch to their photographs.
These photos feel like the Lewis family: warm, joyful, authentic, and full of love. I am so thankful I got to document this season for them. Getting to preserve memories for people who have been a meaningful part of my own story is one of the greatest gifts of this job. Photography has always been about more than just taking pictures; it is about honoring the relationships, the seasons, and the moments that deserve to be remembered.
