Heiss Family at Arabia Mountain

The Heiss family has been part of my work for years now, and truly, what a gift that is. Seeing their names pop into my inbox will always make me smile, because it means getting to step back into a story I know and love.

When Whitney reached out this year, she shared that there was a small shift in what they wanted from their family photos. Along with capturing her, Tyler, Peyton, and twins Paisley and Tristian, she wanted to include her parents. The people who are just a phone call away. The ones who help wrangle kids, show up without being asked, and quietly keep everything moving.

We met at Arabia Mountain in the middle of summer, with warm light and wide open space all around us. The girls wore the most beautiful floral dresses that felt perfectly suited for the season, and the boys looked so handsome. The session felt easy and relaxed, full of conversation, movement, and those in between moments that always end up meaning the most.

Including grandparents in family photos matters more than we often realize. These are the people who raised the parents and now get to watch their children raise children of their own. Even when kids grow up, have families, and build lives of their own, they will always be someone’s babies. Having these moments documented becomes something families treasure more and more with time.

Thank you to the Heiss family for continuing to trust me year after year. It means more than I can put into words to be invited back again and again, and I am so grateful to get to document these seasons as they unfold.
