Morris Family Session in Comer
There is something special about photographing kids in their element. You know, when they are carefree, curious, and completely themselves. That is exactly what made this session with the Morris family so memorable. I met Katie and Ben and their sweet kiddos James, Ginny, and Charlie at the horse stables where the girls’ horses, Jellybean and Sawyer, are kept. The session kicked off with the kids running across hay bales, and for a moment I just stood there watching, completely caught up in the nostalgia of it all. It was such a reminder to slow down and soak in the joy of childhood.
The hay bale fun definitely helped the kids settle in. Everyone gathered so easily for family portraits, including one with all five family members, and their two horses, because animals are absolutely family in my book. We captured several variations of portraits including full family, kiddos only, individual portraits, and a few of just Mom and Dad.
After our first round of portraits we wandered into the horse pasture and eventually made our way to a quiet log overlooking the pond. The setting sun, the sound of laughter, and the peaceful rhythm of the farm created the most beautiful ending. Every image from this session feels like a little time capsule full of memories of them simply being themselves. From the goofy dancing to tossing sticks into the pond to chasing the sun, each photograph holds life in the simplest, slowest, and most authentically beautiful way.
Thank you, Morris family, for the adventure, the belly laughs, and the chance to capture such a magical evening on the farm. Sessions like these fill me all the way up and I love getting to work with you each year.
